Road biking on the Dolomite Passes

Challenging the legendary roads of the Dolomite passes, that every year decide the winner of Giro d’Italia, is every cyclist’s dream.

Cortina, situated in the heart of the Dolomites, is the ideal starting point to conquer several passes: Giau, Falzarego, Sella, Pordoi, and Gardena.

A must is the spectacular ride up to Tre Cime di Lavaredo, while in a few hours’ drive you will also reach Zoncolan and Stelvio passes.

In the heart of the Dolomites

The best time of the year to attempt these challenges is from mid May to the beginning of July and from early September till beginning of October.

Better to avoid the second half of July and the whole month of August because roads are too busy with car traffic.

In peak season, we recommend leaving very early in the morning in order to be back by mid morning.

Safety and relax for your experience

The equipment

Snow Service pays great attention to ensure a safe, relaxed experience: all the bicycles are rigorously tested before each use.

We highly recommend wearing the helmet; in addition to water bottles, we provide the bike repair kit to fix a flat tyre, just to ward off ill-luck.

Recommending the most suitable route is our main concern and the shop is equipped with a handy briefing point with maps and bus timetables. This year we have introduced 3D maps with FATMAP; find out more in our  routes.

As of this year, we have included the electric Gravel bike in our offer.

A very versatile bike that allows you to pedal on different terrains: from smooth asphalt to rougher terrain and light gravel.

Despite its versatility, the e-bike gravel bike has nothing to envy road bikes in terms of speed and agility on asphalt.

The 500W motor allows even the untrained rider to tackle the great gradients of the Dolomite passes without tiring more than necessary, by dosing the effort according to the use of the motor and adapting the pace to the other members of the group.

Don’t worry about how long the battery lasts; with the charger you can recharge it whenever you want!

Bike enthusiasts, save the dates! In summer, on some days,  Dolomite passes are closed to traffic and open only to cyclists:
