Snow Service: sledges and snow sleds rental in Cortina

We are the rental shop with the widest selection of sledges, snow sleds and headlamps in Cortina. You may book your gear online on our  online booking page, or come to our shop located at  Corso Italia 206 (Snow Service 3).

A snowmobile ride uphill, dining at a mountain restaurant and sledge riding in the moonlight is a must-do in Cortina: you cannot miss this exciting experience. Malga FederaRifugio Mietres , and Rifugio Dibona are among the most popular destinations.

Snow Service not only rents sledges, but also offers the necessary logistics to manage both large and small groups.

With a minimum number of participants, we will deliver the sledges at the agreed meeting spot and pick them up when you are back from your ride. Your only concern is having fun.

Sledges can be used also in the daytime along one of the many routes that we may recommend, like Prato Piazza or  Malga Ra Stua. You hike up the road and ride down comfortably seated on your sledge.

Sledding is so much fun!

Sledge and snow sled models

We have standard wooden sledges and, for the most demanding riders, top-of-the-line models.

There are also sledges and plastic snow sleds for kids.

Standard sledges and two-seaters snow sleds can comfortably accommodate one child and one adult: we discourage the use by two adults because the ride would be rather uncomfortable.

Don’t be afraid, “sledding” is much easier and more natural than you might think.

How to sledge

Sledding is much easier and more natural than you might think.

  • Let’s cover the boot with the ski pants to avoid snow getting inside;
  • Let’s seat comfortably on the sledge, slightly backward;
  • Let’s hold the rope with both hands;
  • To brake: place both feet on the ground next to the skates. Better using the sole as braking with the heel will lift more snow which could limit visibility;
  • Speed can be controlled by keeping our feet on the snow all the time.

To turn, you just need to:

  • Slightly incline your body inside the turn;
  • Put more pressure on the foot inside the turn;
  • Pull the rope end placed inside the turn;
  • For a sharp brake; put both feet onto the ground and firmly lift the front of the sledge.

What to wear

  • Ski wear
  • Ski gloves
  • Adequate snow boots
  • Helmet
  • Goggles (clear lens for night rides)
  • Headlamp (for night rides)

Please read!

Cortina does not offer homologated tracks for sledding. Descents are generally along forest roads, groomed by the mountain inns’ snow ploughs.

Therefore, you assume all risks inherent to this activity and Snow Service cannot by any means be liable for the use of the rented sledges.

Always check snow conditions before attempting any activities. In case of lack of snow or icy conditions do not venture.
