Drive along the state road 51 towards Dobbiaco, about 6km from Cortina you encounter a sharp hairpin turn. There is St Hubertus, the starting point of the ski tour with its wide parking lot.
Wear your ski touring boots, apply the skins to your skis and start skinning up the forest road, well groomed by the farmhouse snowploughs.
The time required for the ascent is about 1 hour. Malga Ra Stua, lying amid amazing pasturelands, has been recently renovated to welcome its guests.
Once you reach the farm restaurant, we recommend changing your spare layer to avoid remaining sweaty. Take the skins off, block the bindings and get ready to ski down the same way of the ascent.
As stated above, this is a forest road, not a homologated ski run, therefore the descent is at your own risk.
The descent lasts about 20 minutes and is not dangerous, but you need to control your speed.
Though we feel a tour guide is not necessary, hiring a mountain guide for your complete safety is always a good idea.
