To reserve a table for lunch or dinner your need to call the Rifugio: +39 334 720 3154.
The ascent starts at Guargnè, the valley station of the dismantled Mietres chairlift, less than 1 km drive from Cortina centre. A wide parking area, free of charge, is provided.
Apply the skins to your skis, wear your touring equipment and start skinning up the ski run above the poma lift top station. In 20-25 minutes you reach Col Tondo, the intermediate station of the former chairlift.
Continue uphill along the ski run and, after climbing up a few steep stretches and going past the “cason del Milar” on your right, you will spot the shape of Rifugio Mietres on top of the hill.
One last demanding section before you reach the Rifugio panoramic deck (1710 m) to enjoy the spectacular view of the Ampezzo valley, day and night alike. The whole ascent is about one hour long.
Once you reach the restaurant, we recommend changing your T-shirt to avoid remaining sweaty.
After enjoying your meal, you are ready to descend.
Take the skins off, block the bindings and get ready to ski down the same way of the ascent.
As stated above, this is a former ski run therefore not homologated. The descent is at your own risk, it lasts about 10 minutes and it is not dangerous: but you need to control your speed.
Though we feel a tour guide is not necessary, hiring a mountain guide for your complete safety is always a good idea.
